Subject: RE: Minimum System Requirements
Hello R.,
I have minimum system requirements for the underlying software, they are in the doc:
Operating Systems
The product is supported on following operating systems:
· Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or later (x86)
· Microsoft Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 or later (x86 or x64)
· Microsoft Windows 7 (x86 or x64)
· Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 or later (x86 or x64)
· Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (x86 or x64)
· Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64), optionally with Service Pack 1
On x64 platforms, QuickOPC-UA can run in 32-bit or 64-bit mode.
Prerequisites
For QuickOPC-UA, the following software must be present on the target system before the installation:
1. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 with Service Pack 1 (Full or Client Profile), or Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Full or Client Profile).
The Client Profile of the .NET Framework is enough for QuickOPC-UA itself; however in some scenarios you will need the Full profile, such as when you are developing ASP.NET applications, or want to run the ASP.NET examples included with the product.
2. Adobe (Acrobat) Reader or compatible PDF viewer.
I do not currently have a specific list of hardware requirements. It is, however, safe to say that the minimum requirements are same as those for the operating system and .NET Framework, whichever versions of them are used. So, as long as the system fulfills the minimum requirements for those, QuickOPC-UA should run on such system.
This is of course for runtime only. For development, you need to also fulfill whatever your development tools require. If it’s Visual Studio, we need the minimum requirements for Visual Studio. But not more.
We could look up what the specific minimum hardware requirements are for these various operating systems, frameworks and tools, but I think it would only complicate things.
With regard to .NET application types, if you mean types such as Class Library, Console Application, Windows Forms Application, WPF Application, ASP.NET Web Application, Windows Service etc., then yes, they should all work. However, we have only tested/made examples for Console Application, Windows Forms Application, and ASP.Net Web Application so far.
Best regards,

Subject: Minimum System Requirements
Hello Zbynek,
1. Do you have minimum system requirements in terms of CPU, RAM, hard disk space, etc for the OPC-Classic and OPC-UA products?
2. I am assuming that OPC-UA is fully supported for any .NET application type. Correct?
Thanks in advance,
R.
