Error while browsing OPC DA server

Hello.

You wrote that you get this "while browsing", and it might be so, broadly speaking, but according to the error message, the error comes from an attempt to get the value of OPC property for an item (such GetPropertyXXXX or GetMultiplePropertyXXXX calls). The property is Id 1(DataType).

I checked our code, and as far as I can tell, we do not attempt to obtain OPC properties during any of the browse calls.

So, I suppose that somewhere in your code, you decided to obtain that property. And the server does not have it. This can happen. Your responsibility to be ready to handle it.

Unless the error really comes from BrowseXXXX, making a comparison with Matrikon OPC Explorer makes no sense.

Hi,

One of our customer is getting this error while browsing an OPC DA Server:

"Error getting OPC-DA item Data-Type(LIFT-OPC.Shindler_OPC_ServerDA.NT.Gp8.L1.C1BuildingPosition)!....An OPC operation failure with error ...E_INVALID_PID.

When browsing with Matrikon OPC Explorer, there is no problem.

Any idea what is the problem?

Thanks.

Michael
